During the year, there are several mini-carnivals run by AFL Masters and affiliated clubs, some have a long tradition going back many years. These carnivals are a great family events and a great way to meet new friends.
Lawrie Evans Shield Match
The Lawrie Evans Memorial Match will be played at Mulwala Football Club on the Sunday the 11th June 2017 Starting times for games will be as follows 50s and Over to start a 2.00 pm and under 50s at 3.30pm with a BBQ tea to finish the day with the Presentations.
Vic Metro are very Pro-active in encouraging new clubs to be formed within the country region and are always keen to help us out with these memorial games.
For those of you that are not aware of what Lawrie meant to Vic Country, he was a very generous person and was a long standing board member and also very pro-active in breaking down the so called barriers between Vic Country and Vic Metro (since my involvement I haven’t really seen any). Lawrie was always a kind hearted person who was willing to do anything to help out but unfortunately lost a battle with cancer several years ago now and this what this match is all about.
I would encourage all players to be eagerly involved and promote this game through your clubs and purchase a ticket here on line for only $20
Remembering this match is to help promote new clubs within Vic Country so we are hoping that Mulwala/Yarrawonga will have a new side next year through this match. I would also like to thank Shepparton and the Goulburn Valley Giants for all that they have done over the past 2 years with this match and for being very supportive with the move to Mulwala this year.
